Hiring Sarah was pure magic – best investment I’ve ever made in myself. Being a nutrition coach myself, I initially hesitated before coming to terms with hiring someone who was technically a competitor in the area. It was hard to admit that I needed help – and very humbling! But I soon realized that even coaches need coaches and Sarah’s education and experience was EXACTLY what I needed.
Working with Sarah brought on more changes than I’d even thought possible. Nutritionally, I no longer judge food as ‘good’ or ‘bad’ based on their calorie or fat content. This alone is a big change for me. I WAS a lifelong dieter and calories ruled every decision I was making in terms of what to eat. As much as I knew that I needed highly nutritious foods to sustain my performance and give me energy for my job, I still fell back into the calorie trap time and time again.
Now I choose foods that will help me perform at my best, recovery quickly, sustain my energy, keep me at my best running weight, etc. More than anything, I stopped looking at food as an enemy and instead started appreciating what it can do for my body and my mind.
I especially love that I know exactly how to prepare for race day – what days I am fat loading and exactly what days I am carb loading. And on a daily basis I love that I’ve transitioned into a higher fat, lower carb diet the majority of the time. Oh I still get to enjoy carbs – but on the right days, so I never feel deprived.
When I started working with Sarah, I was severely anemic, riddled with injuries (hamstring tendinopathy, Achilles tendinopathy, and a recurring calf tear), and I was struggling with my weight. All of this lead to a very unhappy runner and business owner in 2017. In 2018, I am (knock on wood) free of injuries, running better and faster than ever, and more confident in my running than ever. I know the exact types of foods and drinks I need to prepare for my runs and strength sessions and those I need to recover. The difference from then to now is night and day. Oh, and there is one little other thing – going from a horrible running season in 2017 to PRing at the Green Bay Marathon (3:53) by 5 minutes in May 2018!
Sarah, you are an amazing coach and someone I am delighted to call a friend. I wouldn’t change a thing about my experience. The knowledge you imparted on me has not only helped me but has allowed me to be a better coach to my clients as well. Thank you.
