Inspired by a smoothie I had at Body Energy Club here in Vancouver where I live, I’ve seriously been hooked ever since (of course I had to re-create it the second I got home, doesn’t everyone do that?).
Dates and bananas are great natural sweeteners as they offer runners nutrient dense and easily digested post-run carbohydrates to refill glycogen stores (or quick energy pre-run). Coconut oil is rich in medium chain fatty acids which are unique in that they contain antimicrobial and antiviral properties, enhancing your immune system! And the protein used in this smoothie, Vega Sport Vanilla adds high quality, easily digested protein with a hint of vanilla to the mix.
If you get the chance, check out Body Energy Club for their smoothies and fresh-pressed juices. In the meantime here’s the ingredients to this coco banana deliciousness so you can have some right away!
Ingredients
- 1 cup coconut water
- 1 frozen banana (or 1 cup frozen banana chunks)
- 1-3 pitted medjool dates
- 1 Tbsp coconut oil
- 1 Tbsp coconut butter (optional, makes it creamier)
- ¾ scoop Vega Sport vanilla or Ergogenics vanilla protein powder
- dash of turmeric + small dash of fresh ground pepper (optional)
- 6 ice cubes
Directions
Place all ingredients in a high-powered blender. Blend on high until smooth.
Enjoy!
Eat clean, run strong, be well… Cheers,
